The Managing Teams Programme

A practical development programme for people who directly manage staff.

Applications for this programme will open in Autumn 2026.

This programme is:

  • Free for Access to Justice Foundation ‘ILTA’ grant holders

  • Free for City Bridge Foundation ‘Access to Justice’ grant holders

  • £150 for London Legal Support Trust Centres of Excellence

  • £300 for other organisations

The Managing Teams Programme develops the practical judgement and interpersonal skills needed to lead healthy, inclusive and effective teams in legal advice and social justice organisations. It covers shared purpose and expectations, trust and accountability, supervision, delegation, feedback, performance and difficult conversations. Participants also consider workload, capacity, conflict, emotionally demanding work, quality, risk, improvement and change, using realistic scenarios, peer problem-solving, workplace projects and reflection.

This Programme is for people with direct responsibility for staff, including team leaders and service, practice, project, legal advice, casework, support, outreach, administrative and other operational managers. Particularly useful for new and developing managers and experienced managers who have learned mainly on the job.

The Programme is delivered by experienced organisational development consultants Matthew Howgate and Jayne Butler.
