Book onto this training here
As part of the offering of the Management and Leadership Hub, we are launching a 2-part training on governance for trustees of legal advice charities. We recommend attending both parts to access the full content of the training.
This training session is designed for current and prospective trustees of advice and legal organisations who want to understand the role and discharge it well.
Part 1 will cover what being a trustee means in practice, including legal duties, collective responsibility, effective oversight and the realities of governing mission-driven organisations in a challenging environment. It will also explore good financial governance, helping trustees understand budgets, reserves, management information, financial questioning and the key indicators of organisational health.
Part 2 focuses on how trustees can help their organisation deliver its charitable objectives while operating as an effective and purposeful board. It will explore how boards maintain strategic focus, use data and insight to understand impact, and ensure that resources are being directed towards mission and public benefit. The session will also look at how to operate as an effective board, including decision-making, constructive challenge, board culture, roles, meetings and the relationship between trustees.
These session are delivered by Matthew Howgate and Jayne Butler and will be practical, clear and grounded in sector realities, the session is suitable for both new and experienced trustees.
Sessions are free if you are either an ILTA grantee or and LLST Centre of Excellence. If your organisation is not in these categories, sessions cost £30 per place.
